An employee at the Sheetz store on Plum’s Hulton Road has tested positive for covid-19, the company announced Friday.
A store manager reached by phone Friday morning said the store and gas station at 2175 Hulton Road were closed. She deferred questions to the company’s corporate office.
Sheetz spokesman Nick Ruffner said the store was closed Thursday evening after discovering the employee’s diagnosis. He declined to provide any additional information about the employee’s role, the person’s age or where the employee lives.
The company said in a statement that the store has been professionally deep-cleaned and disinfected and gas pumps also were sanitized and cleaned.
“We are working with employees who may have had close contact with this employee. We are also following guidelines set by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” the statement said.
All employees will be fully paid while the store remains closed, the company said.
“This location will open shortly but not until we have ensured that all steps have been taken to protect our community,” the statement said. “Your safety is our top priority and that will continue to be our first thought as we join the nation in navigating this unprecedented health crisis.”
