Oakmont council has a new president, vice president

Oakmont officials appointed Patricia Friday and Leah Powers as council president and vice president, respectfully.
Council also welcomed back Nancy Ride and Sophia Facaros, and newcomers Lindsay Osterhout and David Brankley, as the four were sworn in by Mayor Christopher Whaley at a reorganization meeting held Jan. 6.
Ride, Facaros and Osterhout won four-year terms, and Brankley a two-year term, in the November election.
Kate Diersen of Goehring, Rutter & Boehm was retained as borough solicitor, and Amber Yon of Senate Engineering as borough engineer. Scot Fodi remained borough manager.
Former councilman Randy Galm was named borough treasurer. He will replace longtime treasurer Fred Favo, who plans to retire.
The firm Hosack, Specht, Muetzel & Wood, LLP was retained as auditor, and William Albright continues as the borough’s emergency management coordinator.
Council workshops are the first Monday of the month. Voting sessions are the third Monday of the month. Both are at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 767 Fifth St.
