Plum School District officials have finalized graduation plans.

An in-person commencement has not been announced.

However, seniors and their parents are invited to come to the high school May 15 for a “graduation walk,” photos and awarding of the diploma cover.

Visits are by appointment only and scheduling must be made by noon Thursday.

It’s all part of a virtual graduation planned for May 28.

High school Principal Joseph Fishell knows the proceedings will not be how students expected to finish out the school year.

“The administration, student advisory group, teachers and our Parent Student Staff Organization have been meeting weekly this past month, monitoring the covid-19 pandemic and making plans, revising plans until we have exhausted every avenue to provide you with the most meaningful experience possible,” Fischell said via letter to district families. “We have attempted to leave no stone unturned as we look for the safest and best way to honor this important milestone in your life.”

Graduation walk procedures

The senior plus four family members should arrive at the school at 900 Elicker Road 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.

District regulations stipulate they must arrive in one car, all be wearing masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines at the school.

Students will report in cap and gown to the stadium with their family for a picture on the field. School police will be stationed at the field entrance.

The field will be set up with purple and gold balloon pillars at the 50 yard line, behind the mustang logo.

Photography services will be provided by Dan Moriarty. All family members must leave school grounds after photos.

Similar plans are set for the high school auditorium in case of inclement weather.

Cap and gowns can be picked up Wednesday as part of the school’s end of the year procedures.

The virtual graduation on May 28 will be posted online and broadcast on outdoor jumbo screens. It will also be available on thumb drives for purchase.

District officials had previously said a live commencement ceremony may take place in late June or July.

More information about graduation is posted on the front page of the district’s website,
